A+ College Ready is an Advanced Placement® Training and Incentive program launched with a $13.2 million grant from the National Math and Science Initiative. The program is designed to significantly increase the number of students prepared to take rigorous college courses in math and science.
How? By Providing:
- Professional development for AP teachers
- On-site coaching and mentoring by Lead Teachers
- Training for pre-AP teachers to support vertically aligned curricula (Laying the Foundation)
- AP exam prep sessions for students in each content area
- Stipends to compensate teachers for extra time
- Financial incentives for academic success among students, teachers, and administrators
- Funds for equipment and technology
Our Three Primary Goals:
- Increase the number of students enrolled in Advanced Placement math, science, and English programs (MSE).
- Increase the number of students receiving qualifying scores (>2) on the College Board’s National Examinations in Advanced Placement math, science, and English.
- Increase the number of students attending and graduating from college with degrees in math and science.
As Science Content Director, my job is to help A+ College Ready accomplish its program goals from the ground up. I work with teachers. We will accomplish these goals classroom by classroom and school by school.
